UNICORD · UNIVERSAL COORDINATION PROTOCOL
Real sovereignty means acting on your own terms without cutting yourself off from everyone else. Unicord is the coordination protocol that makes that possible. Before a high-stakes action runs, it confirms the action is authorized and in policy, then leaves a proof anyone can check afterward. It does this for payments and network traffic, and for the actions AI agents now take on our behalf.
Finance, supply chains, even the internet itself are being pulled back inside national borders, and it is happening just as software starts to transact for us. Sovereignty without coordination is only fragmentation. What the agent era needs is a way to prove an action was allowed before it runs, not another app to run it.
Yesterday: one rail, one supply chain, one internet. Coordination was free because everything was shared.
Money, network traffic, and autonomous machines all move across borders no one fully trusts, faster than anyone can watch. One protocol handles all of it.
When software moves money, the checks have to come first. Payments, investments, financing: cleared before settlement instead of investigated after.
Routes a state can actually trust. Built on virtual IP routing at the packet layer, so control is physical, not promised.
An agent that cannot exceed its mandate, and can prove it to whoever asks.
Coordination means many parties acting as one, even though each answers to a different boss. A cross-border payment, a supply line, a joint military operation: all of them are long chains of actions, and the chain only holds if every link can be trusted the moment it runs.
One unverifiable step and everyone downstream is running on faith. Faith does not survive adversaries, outages, or autonomous software.
For decades, shared rails and intermediaries lent everyone their trust. Unbundling is taking it back. Whatever remains has to carry its own proof.
When software acts in milliseconds, review after the fact is archaeology. The only place left to put trust is before the action.
Once a decision is signed, parties do not have to trust each other. They check the execution instead. The trust is attached to the action and travels with it.
That is the whole point of Unicord: an action that is already cleared and can be checked, so parties who do not trust each other can still rely on it. They act together without any of them giving up control.
"Nothing irreversible happens until the action has cleared the gate."
Every action passes a gate before anything irreversible happens: sanctions, policy, mandate. Each clearance leaves a compliance proof behind. Same discipline whether it is money, cargo, or traffic.
"An agent can use the authority it was given, and nothing more."
An agent holds exactly the authority it was granted. Nothing more to steal, nothing to escalate. Post-quantum signatures seal every decision, so a transaction cannot be altered between clearance and execution. No god-mode admin anywhere.
"Add cores and links and you get more throughput, with no committee in the way."
Consensus runs in the packet path by design, so there is no congestion point and no committee to wait on. Add cores and links, get throughput, until physics says stop. Built for a population of agents.
Every shared network gets worse as it succeeds: blocks fill, fees spike, and whoever orders the transactions skims the difference. Oko is built the other way. Consensus runs inside the network fabric, so capacity grows with every core and link. The busier it gets, the more it carries.
There is no congestion tax, no fee spike, and nothing for an attacker to skim by reordering. On Oko, more usage defends the network instead of dragging it down. The architecture behind that, and how far it reaches, is in the deck.
Coordination stays abstract until money actually moves. Here are two cases Oko handles the same way: a payment crossing borders, and an AI agent moving money for a firm. In both, the action is checked and cleared before it executes.
A · CROSS-BORDER PAYMENT
Four parties, each with its own rulebook, clear a single crossing. Everyone stays connected, and no one hands over control.
B · GOVERNED AI AGENT · FINANCIAL FLOWS
The agent runs autonomously and cannot exceed its mandate. A rogue or hijacked action is halted before a packet leaves, not found in next quarter's audit.
